The brief
-
UK Building Compliance carried out a series of Sound Testing and Air Testing for a property in Northampton
-
Sound Testing for these properties were Airborne Wall tests and carried out by our SITMA accredited technician
-
To pass an Airborne test for new build properties you must score 45db or hig her
-
Airborne tests measure the difference in sound levels between the receiver room and neighbouring walls or floors
-
If the sound output in the receiver room is 100db and the sound leakage being passed through into the neighbouring room is 40db, then the result would be 60 and therefore would be a pass
The process
- After our technicians calculated the areas of the houses on site, testing was ready to be carried out. All calibrated equipment was setup in accordance to our air tightness testing strict procedures to ensure the most accurate result possible
- Initial Air Tests we conducted highlighted issues. Our ATTMA accredited engineer carried out leakage diagnostics with the customer and suggested the appropriate remedial works

Compliant
-
The preliminary Air Tightness test we conducted showed the required standard was not achieved at 4.80m³.h.m² @ 50pa
-
After rectifying and implementing recommendations to the problems we identified in our initial test, the re-test scores improved at a level of 4.43 m³.h.m² @ 50pa which meets the Design Air Permeability requirement
-
This demonstrates that you can be rest assured that our expert advice can help you pass Air Tightness Testing, even if the initial tests fail
-
These plots achieved very good scores on the Airborne Wall Tests which shows very good levels of Sound Insulation
-
We also carried out Ventilation Testing, all these tests passed with no problems
-
Our Mixed Testing package offers excellent value
