The brief
-
UK Building Compliance completed Air Pressure Testing and Sound Insulation Testing at this redevelopment of part of St Josephs Care Home in Manchester
-
The Sound Insulation Tests consisted of a mixture of Airborne Floor, Airborne Wall and Impact Floor tests
-
Airborne tests measure the difference in sound levels between the receiver room and neighbouring walls or floors
-
To pass these Airborne Floor tests, you must score 45db or hig her
-
If the sound output in the receiver room is 100db and the sound leakage being passed through into the neighbouring room is 40db, then the result would be 60 and therefore would be a pass
-
Impact Floor tests measure how effectively the Sound Insulation between floors cancels out sound
-
To pass these Impact Floor tests, you must score 62db or lower
-
If there is less than 62 decibels of sound leaking through into below floors then the test would be a pass
The process

After reviewing drawings, on site testing was ready to be completed. All calibrated equipment was setup in accordance to our strict procedures to ensure the most accurate result possible
