Overheating & TM59 assessments

Part O simplified overheating checks and full TM59 dynamic thermal modelling — work that didn’t exist when she joined.

04

Energy & sustainability statements

Planning-stage energy and sustainability statements that set out how a scheme meets local and national policy.

“We’re a small team and get on really well. If I need a hand or have a question, someone will always help me out.

In her own words

Getting to know Beth.

What’s your role at UKBC?

As Senior Environmental Consultant I’m responsible for SAP, SBEM and water calculations, overheating assessments, and energy & sustainability statements.

How did you end up here?

I was on the verge of completing my MSc in Energy & Sustainable Development and connected with Tom on LinkedIn after seeing he’d studied the same course. Tom messaged to ask if I’d be interested in a role that was coming up — and here I am.

How has the company changed since you joined?

A lot has changed — Tom and Melissa have become directors and we’ve moved into a new office. The building regulations have shifted my day-to-day too; I now complete simplified overheating and TM59 assessments that didn’t exist when I joined.

Where do your strengths show?

I’m quite organised, which means I manage my workload well and am able to meet deadlines.

Do you remember your first day?

I started about a week after Callum, so it was nice to have another newbie in the office! We both had a full day of training with Tom — a great way to get to know everyone.

What do you enjoy most about the job?

Working with everyone at UKBC. We’re a small team and get on really well — the communication and teamwork definitely makes my job easier.

And outside work?

I recently got engaged, so a lot of my spare time is spent wedding planning!
